Friendship - The Best Way to Make this World a Genuine Happy Place

Make love not war - that's the theme of the '60s. I don't care about underlying themes that can either harm you or feel pathetic of that era. Friendship is what made it look like the best era this world could ever have in a modern setting...the music, the way of life and the boom of science and technology.

Little did we know that friendship starts at home in different phases or sizes, whatever your perspective in life.

Parents, on the first hand, inculcated what friendship really mean to their children. Every child will always look up to his parents as models and often mimic them on the way they speak, act or do something worthwhile at home or the bad things they've experienced at an early age.

As they grow older, they're the ones who'll continue random acts of friendship that sprung at home by sharing it in school with their classmates and teachers, too.

So, let me recall what I've done with 'friendship' as I make a difference to make this world a happy place to live in with my own little ways.

Romano's Acts of Friendship

  1. Always wear a smile as much as possible. It expresses positivity whenever you meet someone you've known who's having a situation. A sympathetic smile will lessen his/her burden, coupled with a gesture of gentle pat on his/her shoulder.
  2. Trying to be cool with your neighbors. You can exchange a bowl of main dish or fruit salad to lighten up the mood of a very hectic day. Don't expect that they'll also give something in exchange. A simple thanks will always inspire you to do more acts of kindness.
  3. Always help an old man or an old lady cross the pedestrian lane as much as possible. They'll not suspect you as a thief if you gesture a hand-stop to those vehicles ready to accelerate, even though, there's no green light yet.
  4. Try to be cool with the traffic police. They're just doing their duty whenever traffic is congested. You can greet them with a smile as you say thanks for doing his job well. It will make his/her day.
  5. Offer your seat to a lady or an elderly as you ride on a trip via a public transport (bus or railway transit). What's the purpose of being a boy scout if you'll not do a good turn daily.
  6. If you're not in a hurry, you can offer your space if you see the lady next to you (let's say, a mother with rambunctious toddler) by making her pay first at the cashier for her goods.
  7. Racial discrimination still exists. Befriend the one who's making nasty remarks at you. In a way, he'll/she'll know that skin color is not a hindrance to friendship.
  8. In a workforce, individual differences are apparent. Try to be cool and be as friendly as possible by keeping yourself to the ground. You know, don't spread rumours. Always remember the three wise monkeys. See, hear and speak no evil. It's only work. Competition will always ruin friendship.
  9. Friendship starts first when you open your heart to love. There are stories of best-friends ending their platonic relationships into marriage and they succeeded. Try imitating it and you'll see the result larger than life. Don't fall out of friendship. It is a genuine bridge to the place called LOVE.
  10. Friendship is synonymous to kindness. If you are kind, then you are friendly. There's always a door of happiness that embraces you all the time. Be friendly, be kind and be happy. You can always chant this mantra once you go out your home and give your friendly smile to your neighbor each day as it comes.
